At Prototype Productions Ltd, we operate four advanced sliding head CNC lathes—starting with our first installation in 2014 and most recently expanding with the Star SX-38 Type A in 2025. These machines dramatically reduce cycle times while delivering exceptional precision and surface finish across a wide range of components.

Engineered for rigidity, versatility, and micron-level accuracy, our sliding head lathes consistently hold tight tolerances on both simple and complex geometries. With a machining capacity of up to 42mm diameter and a combination of fixed and live tooling, we produce:

We’ve successfully machined parts as small as 0.8mm in diameter, showcasing the finesse and control of our equipment in micro-scale manufacturing.

We’re proud to introduce the Star SX-38 Type A—our latest investment in cutting-edge CNC technology. This 12-axis sliding head lathe delivers high-speed, high-precision machining for complex components up to 42mm diameter. With dual 7,000 rpm spindles, a 10-station turret, and up to 80 tool positions, it’s built for versatility, speed, and uncompromising accuracy. Ideal for aerospace, medical, automotive, and advanced electronics, the SX-38 enhances our capability to meet the most demanding mill-turn requirements—faster, smarter, and with absolute precision.
